Work Units
Driving Progress, Work Unit by Work Unit: Achieving Results and Advancing Together
01.
Project management, coordination and dissemination of results
Efficient Execution and Widespread Impact
Navigating Projects, Coordinating Efforts, and Sharing Success
Coordination ensures seamless collaboration among team members, collaborating bodies, and resources, optimizing the project’s progress. Dissemination of results is crucial for sharing outcomes with relevant parties, showcasing achievements, and enabling knowledge transfer for future endeavors.
FLOWIND will enable wind and wave potential investments to be investigated when there is an intention to select and design an offshore floating wind farm.
Work Unit Deliverables:
- Wind and wave potential assessment (with reliability assessment)
02.
Analysis of environmental (external) operating conditions of wind turbines in the Hellenic Seas
Exploring the Wind Turbines' Environmental Landscape: External Operating Conditions Analysis
wind potential and wave climate, electrical interconnections, supply chain
The environment for such infrastructure consists of the existence and location of existing ports, suitable locations for storing the large components that make up a wind turbine so that they can be stored before their assembly at their final installation location, as well as provision for their maintenance.
Work Unit Deliverables:
- Assessment of installation sites in terms of potential, interconnection, coastal infrastructure, environmental impacts
- Design and analysis of floating wind turbines and moorings
- Aerodynamic and Structural Design of Wings
03.
Floating wind turbine technology
Harnessing Wind Power Beyond Horizons: The Advancements in Floating Wind Turbine Technology
Design of floats, moorings, safety and reliability, environmental impact - Wind park design
The current wind turbine technology involves the blades, floating platforms, and anchoring of the device, which determines both the type of wind generator suitable for a new investment and the design and evaluation, beyond the individual devices, of an entire wind farm.
In this stage, FLOWIND is called upon to carry out certification calculations. Certification is a necessary process that allows for the insurance coverage of such a large-scale investment.
Work Unit Deliverables:
- Calculations for the certification of floating wind turbines
04.
Risk assessment and analysis
Identifying Vulnerabilities and Charting Pathways
Identifying Hazards (Investments/Facilities) -
Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis
These studies aim to provide a comprehensive assessment of the technical, financial, and overall risks associated with the investment from its inception to its implementation.
This approach allows for the implementation of all necessary protective measures, ensuring the project’s sustainability, success, and profitability.
Work Unit Deliverables:
- Identification and risk assessment in offshore wind energy investments
05.
Economic Analysis
Understanding Financial Perspectives
Costing, Technical-Economic Evaluation, Business Plan Development, Socioeconomic Impacts
Economic analysis is a crucial step in formulating a business plan, which also encompasses technical matters and essential studies of the socioeconomic environment of the investment.
Work Unit Deliverables:
- Economic and technical analysis of offshore wind energy investments
